Daily Record admits to launch of evening editions

THE Daily Record newspaper has finally admitted it is to launch an evening edition, with one geared towards Glasgow and another towards Edinburgh.

The new editions, Daily Record GLASGOW PM and Daily Record EDINBURGH PM, will be on sale from 3pm each afternoon in over 1,000 outlets across both cities.

Over 20 journalists have been recruited to the new editions and will work from the Daily Record offices in both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

There is also an admission they will have a cover price – as opposed to being free, which had been initially assumed when word of the planned editions began to leak out of the paper’s Central Quay headquarters.

The exact price has not yet been formally revealed, nor the launch date. Last week, Spike suggested 15p and now it is suggesting a launch date of the sixth of next month.

Why? Because a Spike source has spotted an employment agency advertising for ‘PR personnel’ to be available from the sixth to sell copies of ‘a leading newspaper’ between 2.30 and 7.30pm.
