Snowdon the new editor of SoS

BREAKING News, 5.30pm: The editor of The Sunday Times Scotland has been appointed editor of Scotland on Sunday, succeeding Iain Martin who left at the end of April, and acting editor, Tom Little, who has been running the paper since.

Les Snowdon has been Sunday Times Scotland editor for the last three years and returns to Scotsman Publications, after a gap of eight years, where he enjoyed stints as deputy sports editor, acting night editor and also spells on the business, news and foreign desks.

Before being appointed editor of The Sunday Times Scotland, he was deputy sports editor of the paper’s UK edition and, before that, sports editor of the Scotland edition.

This afternoon, it was Little who announced the news to Scotland on Sunday staff. The timing of the announcement took some by surprise since he has just overseen the relaunch of the paper’s Spectrum magazine (last week) and sports section (the week before).

Asked by Spike, he declined to comment on his future plans.
