Deja vu for Scotsman’s back page

It said on the back that it was retailing for £1 – next to the barcode used by newsagents – but said on the front that it was selling for 75p; yesterday’s East of Scotland edition of The Scotsman was not all yesterday’s: its back page was Saturday’s.

And so, a back page story about golfer, Padraig Harrington, didn’t have a ‘turn to’ to go to on page 58, while the wing column on page 58, about motor racing driver, Dario Franchitti, didn’t have a ‘from back page’ to come from.

Last week, around 100 workers at The Scotsman’s print plant in Edinburgh were told their jobs were at risk of being axed, as publishers, Johnston Press, look to have their portfolio of Scottish titles turned out at the print works of rival outfits, Trinity Mirror and News International.
