Magee scoops inaugural techie award

A FREELANCE writer who mainly reports for Scotland on Sunday newspaper has been named ‘Technology journalist of the year’ at a new set of awards run by a trade body representing the Scottish information and communications technology industry.

Bill Magee received his accolade at a dinner hosted by ScotlandIS and attended by 300 guests, held in Edinburgh last week. He writes mainly business technology issues for Scotland on Sunday plus he produces a trio of tech columns for Hi-Tech Scotland, IOD Scotland and Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce.

He began concentrating on ‘BizTech’ at the turn of century, having previously worked as a Scotland-based stringer for news agency, Reuters, and also as a business and finance writer for the Sunday Times Scotland.

His triumph was third time lucky for Bill. Last year, he was nominated for the BT UK Technology Security Media Awards, and nominated seven years ago for The Royal Bank of Scotland Newspaper of the Year Awards, for work done for the Sunday Times Scotland.
