Yesterday was expected to be the busiest day of the year for sales on the internet, prompting the headline in the Scottish Sun: '.com All ye Faithful'.
It was spotted by allmediascotland.com and is a contender for the site's Headline of the Month competition – in association with whisky folk, Whyte & Mackay.
Up for grabs each month are bottles of Whyte & Mackay Special whisky – for both the author of the headline and the person who has nominated it, with the monthly winners entered in a Headline of the Year competition where two bottles, each worth £150, of Whyte & Mackay 30 year-old are the prizes.
Eligible are headlines in Scottish newspapers (national and local), plus Scottish magazines and online.
And there's another contender, this time nominated by David Oliver:
It concerns a story about a new London tartan, and the possibility of the Mayor, Boris Johnson, being one of the first to wear it (it helps to know that Johnson is a regular on TV's Have I Got News for You)…. 'Have we Got Trews for you? No, Boris, it's a London Kilt'. It appeared in The Scotsman on Saturday.
