Scottish Scenery Summoned as Screen Saver

In the past, it might have been A Walk in the Black Forest, against a backdrop of a test card; last night, it was a series of short films, about Scotland's scenery.

But then the STV transmission team were at the ready, in case the FA Cup football match being screened by ITV, but not STV, ran over, to knock News at Ten – which STV was showing – off its 10pm start slot.

And sure enough, Reading's ultimately giantkilling feat against Liverpool did spill over, past 10pm.

Actually, it wasn't until 10.50pm that News at Ten managed to air and the delay wasn't entirely to do with the football: according to reports, it was partly because ITV suffered a power cut, followed by problems with a back-up generator.
