THE Herald newspaper is inviting entries to its annual student journalism awards, this being the 14th year the competition has been operating.
Two new awards are being introduced this year – ‘Best columnist’, to reflect the diversity of writing in student publications, and ‘Best use of multimedia’, to recognise new trends within the industry.
The Best News Writer, sponsored by BT Scotland, is awarded in memory of Calum Macdonald, a journalist with The Herald who died of cancer two years ago.
