Staffing situation clearer at Sunday Times Scotland

IT is understood that the writers to be kept on at the Sunday Times Scotland – following news last week that over three-quarters of its editorial staff are facing redundancy, amid plans to scale down the operation from the end of next month – have been identified.

allmediascotland.com believes that Jason Allardyce is to kept on as political correspondent, while news will be provided by Mark Macaskill. Meanwhile, sports reporting is to be undertaken by Douglas Alexander, though allmediascotland hears that Mark Palmer had been a serious contender for that posting.

It is also understood that the identity of a columnist for the edition has still to be decided.
