Journalist shares experience of breast cancer in new book

AN Aberdeen journalist, diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago, has just had a book published on her experiences with the illness.

Sonja Rasmussen, who works as a sub-editor for the Press and Journal, and is well known in the city for her work as an arts critic, says she overcame her illness with the support of her family.

At a public launch of her book, ‘Doing it with Bling On: Battling Breast Cancer with Style’, Sonja read sections detailing how she coped with the stress of chemotherapy by focusing on things like fashion and make-up.

The book contains interviews with her surgeon, breast cancer nurses, radiotherapists and counsellors whom work with children affected by cancer.

Sonja founded Aberdeen’s annual, six-mile Bling Fling Trainers and Tiara Walk, which raised £30,000 for good causes this year.
