DC Thomson staff at centre of NUJ recruitment drive

JOURNALIST at Sunday Post publishers, DC Thomson, are being targeted by the National Union of Journalists, in a major recruitment drive that it says has already delivered “dramatic” results.

Says the NUJ: “The NUJ is stepping up its campaign to recruit members working for DC Thomson following the dramatic increase in journalists in Dundee joining.

“Journalists at the Sunday Post in Glasgow and Dundee, and other titles, are clambering to join as a result of proposed changes in their working conditions.”

These changes involve a ‘modernisation’ of pay and hours which has seen some staff having their pay increased but others facing the possibility of having it reduced.

On Thursday, the NUJ has arranged an open meeting in Glasgow, for staff at the Sunday Post interested in finding out more about the union and its work.

The Dundee branch of the NUJ has set up its own dedicated website, www.NUJDundee.co.uk.

Thursday’s meeting is at the NUJ’s offices, 114 Union Street, Glasgow, opposite Central Station, at 6.30 pm.
