Aberdeen Editorship for McCabe

The deputy editor of the Aberdeen evening newspaper, the Evening Express, has been promoted to editor.

Alan McCabe succeeds Damian Bates who has taken over at sister title, the Press and Journal, following the retirement of Derek Tucker.

Says the papers' managing director, Alan Scott, the appointment is with immediate effect.

McCabe began his journalism career at the Evening Express, as a reporter, before joining the Aberdeen office of the Daily Record for a spell, during which time he covered sport.
