Edinburgh's beleaguered tram project has claimed another victim: its head of PR.
Reports today's Scotsman newspaper, Mandy Haeburn-Little, director of communications and customer services for 'transport initiatives edinburgh (tie)', the company set up to manage the tram scheme, resigned yesterday after two years as its chief spin doctor.
In a statement issued by tie, she is quoted, saying: “Whilst there will never be an entirely ideal time to move on, I believe this is the right juncture.”
Hers is the latest of several high-profile resignations from the company in recent weeks, as a reported £200 million funding gap and fraught wrangling with contractors threaten to sink plans for a tram link from Edinburgh Airport to the city centre for good.
Her departure follows Richard Jeffrey, chief executive of tie, who will officially leave the company tomorrow, having announced last month that it was the “optimum time” to move on.
