The Daily Record/Sunday Mail: The Timetable

A mass meeting of NUJ members at the Daily Record and Sunday Mail newspapers is taking place this afternoon, following news yesterday that 90 editorial posts have been earmarked for redundancy.

Taking place at 3pm, the meeting will be preceded by negotiations between the NUJ's Scottish Organiser, Paul Holleran, and Mark Hollinshead, director of national newspapers at publishers, Trinity Mirror.

That takes place from 10am.

Between today and the end of this month, applications for voluntary redundancy are being invited.

Any selection for compulsory redundancy is understood to be scheduled for between the 11th and 18th of next month, with those candidates chosen for compulsory redundancy likely to be told of their fate on the 19th and required to be gone by the 31st.

One item on the agenda between Holleran and Hollinshead are company plans to have a Daily Record/Sunday Mail unit operating within editorial providers, the Press Association, in Yorkshire.

It's believed nine individuals have already been identified by the company to be invited to move to Yorkshire, with a week to decide whether to uproot themselves, as possibly their families, starting on Wednesday.
