Plaudits in Order for Cochrane's Persistence

It seems that the persistence of a Scottish local newspaper editor has paid off.

Reports media website, HoldtheFrontPage, Drew Cochrane – editor of the Largs and Millport Weeky News – kicked up a fuss when his newspaper was apparently excluded from the publicity surrounding local residents, Colin and Chris Weir, when they won a thumping £161 million in the Euromillions.

Says the website, Cochrane is understood to have described being “left chasing the world’s media” for a story that happened on his own doorstep.

Continues the website: “And after appealing to the couple through his weekly column to get in touch, his persistence paid off with an exclusive tale in which Britain’s biggest lottery winners revealed they wanted to stay in the North Ayrshire town.”
