Freelance photographer, Wattie Cheung, heads a strong Scots contingent in the shortlist of awards celebrating the best of UK press photography. The freelancer was nominated in the celebrity pics section, with fellow Scots freelancer, Ian MacNicol, earning a nomination in the sports category.
Also featuring in the shortlist of the UK Picture Editors' Guild Awards 2011 is Edinburgh-based David Moir (regional category) and former Scotland on Sunday and Herald 'snapper', London-based Paul Hackett (news). Chris Furlong, who used to work in Scotland, for Scotland on Sunday and also the Sunday Herald, gets a nomination too, in the royal photography category.
The UK Picture Editors Guild Awards were launched last year, following the demise of the Picture Editors' Awards three years ago.
The winners will be announced on the 20th of next month.
