Clyde and Forth appointment for former news editor

THE recent news editor of the Scottish News of the World, until its closure in July, has been appointed by newspaper publishers, Clyde and Forth, to oversee their Clyde and Ayrshire titles.

Craig Jackson starts work on Monday, where he will be editorial manager at the Clydebank Post, Dumbarton Reporter, Helensburgh Advertiser and the Renfrewshire Gazette. He will also oversee the Ardrossan Herald, Ayr Advertiser, Cumnock Chronicle, Largs News and the Irvine Times.

Says Clyde and Forth Media managing director, Graham Morrison: “This appointment strengthens the management team at an exciting time for the company. I am confident that Craig will cope with the challenges set by this demanding role, and I am certain that his new colleagues will join with me in wishing him every success in this important position.”

The Scottish News of the World was closed by its owners following phone hacking allegations made against its sister title, in London.

Jackson is taking over a large chunk of the editorial responsibilities of Tom McConigley, who is leaving next month to become a management consultant.

The company is in the process of appointing an editorial manager for its Forth titles.
