McAlpine to speak at capital meet of Scottish Press Club

THE journalist-turned-MSP, Joan McAlpine, is scheduled to speak at the first Edinburgh meeting of the recently-launched Scottish Press Club.

Among other things a former deputy editor of The Herald, McAlpine is currently campaining to save a BBC Radio 1 programme, showcasing unsigned Scots music talent, from falling victim to budget cuts.

The Scottish Press Club was launched in Glasgow in June. This is its first foray outside of the city and will be taking place on Thursday evening, from 7.30pm, at the Waverley Bar, St Mary Street.

The Club is the brainchild of a reporter at the Renfrewshire Gazette, Martin Graham, and a fellow recent journalism graduate, Cristiana Theodoli, from Glasgow Caledonian University.
