Kitchen career for Kirsty?

A CAREER as a chef could beckon for BBC Newsnight presenter, Kirsty Wark.

Reports The Herald today, Wark has developed a taste for cooking – following an appearance last year on the BBC’s Celebrity Masterchef, where she finished runner-up – to the extent there could be a career in the culinary arts after retiring from broadcasting.

Both The Herald (page three) and the Daily Record (page 25) quotes her saying, in a BBC radio interview: “I have registered a domain name of Kirsty’s Kitchen. I don’t know exactly what I will do with it yet. It would be fun.

“One of the key things is organisation, like a producer with a running order on television. Someone said to me: ‘You do Newsnight, I can’t believe you cook’ and I wonder, ‘Do they think I’ve been eating fresh air for the last 56 years?'”

The Scottish Daily Mail (page 26) and the Scottish Daily Express (page 15) reminds that Wark is hosting a new BBC 2 food quiz show, A Question of Taste.

She is widely quoted, saying of her Masterchef appearance: “Being up against the clock and having to perform at that level was incredible.

“While I have always admired professional chefs, I now appreciate what pressure they’re under. The ones who don’t shout are amazing.

“I absolutely adored it, it was just the best thing, although it was one of the most stressful experiences I’ve had.”

The story makes a brief appearance on page three of The Scottish Sun.
