Job loss rumours understood to be premature

RUMOURS of possible job cuts at the Scotland office of Express Newspapers – which publishes the Scottish Daily Express, the Daily Star of Scotland and their sister titles – are understood to be premature and the product of concerns about a review of possible savings at the company.

Next week, it is believed that officials from the National Union of Journalists will be convening at the publishers’ London HQ to discuss the scope of any savings.

Already, rumours have put a figure on how many posts might be at risk of redundancy, but allmediascotland.com understands it is too early to gauge the impact of any savings – including the scale of any job cuts – since no exact target has been set.
