The sports editor of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail newspapers has had his responsibilities extended.
Austin Barrett is now to also oversee the sports coverage in publisher, Trinity Mirror's local newspaper titles in Scotland.
The move follows the merging of Trinity Mirror's Scottish operation – including its Scottish & Universal newspapers division – under the one business name: Media Scotland.
Hence, Barrett will support the sports editor at, for instance, the Paisley Daily Express.
Meanwhile, well-known sports writer and broadcaster, Jim Traynor, is to remain with the paper, to – says Trinity Mirror – “continue to set the agenda through his exclusives and commentary for the Daily Record”, in the capacity of associate editor, sport.
He was previously head of sport and it is understood his new role is to be much less day-to-day.
Earlier this year, the company had begun talks with Traynor regarding his wish to reduce his involvement.
