Harry Turner dies, aged 82

A FORMER photographer at The Herald, Harry Turner, has died, aged 82.

Reports the paper today, on page three, he died peacefully at his home “after suffering from an illness”.

He was at The Herald for 20 years. Says the paper: “He joined The Herald and Sunday Standard in 1983 and won a number of awards, including Sports Photographer of the Year and Best Picture of the Year in 1988 for his coverage of the Barlinnie Prison riot.”

Earlier in his life, he ran a coffee bar and jazz club. He also lived for a while in France.
