Askeland’s Canadian column

ThE senior business writer on The Scotsman is having her regular Saturday column in the paper appearing in a Canadian title instead – on an one-off basis, as part of a swap.

While Erikka Askeland’s column is tomorrow appearing in the National Post, which is based in Ottowa, The Scotsman is publishing a column by the Post’s John Ivison, a political writer.

The swap is part of a Scotland Week celebration.

Askeland – who also works on Scotland on Sunday – is a Canadian herself, and was brought up in British Columbia. She attended the University of Calgary and got her start as a hack, launching the Calgary Straight – an arts and entertainment weekly.

And Ivison is a former writer on The Scotsman, from where he joined the Post in 1998.
