Tougher Regulation Reportedly Being Sought to Stop Copycat Branding

Tougher regulation is being reportedly sought to stop 'copycat branding', including among some of the best-known retailers.

Says The Scotsman: “The British Brands Group claims there has been a 60 per cent increase in the past year of 'parasitic' brands which bear a close resemblance to a better known brand.”

And it adds: “The BBG has called for the government to do more to protect manufacturers, saying existing legislation and enforcement by Trading Standards Officers is too weak.”

The paper lists ten products whose looks bear a close resemblance to their 'better-known' equivalents.
