Despite having being a former deputy editor of one and an, until recently, regular columnist for the other, journalist-turned-politician, Joan McAlpine, today finds herself on the front page of at least three daily newspapers today.
It follows the aide to First Minister, Alex Salmond, yesterday missing a scheduled appearance in the Scottish Parliament, which resulted in her apologising to fellow MSPs. She was meant to ask a question but was instead having lunch with Salmond.
The Herald – for whom she was a deputy editor – and The Scotsman – for whom she wrote a weekly column before switching to the Daily Record, in March – each devote a fair chunk of their front page to her.
And the Scottish Daily Express is arguably even more on her case, devoting all but a side panel pic (of the late 'disco diva', Donna Summer) of its front page to the tale.
