The publication of a book has given the Sunday Mail newspaper the opportunity to remind its readers that newspapers have an important role to play, investigating wrong-doing.
Today, the paper features extracts of 'Caught in the Crossfire', by Russell Findlay, described as the “inside story of a feud which led to open warfare and gangland executions on the streets of Glasgow”.
And as the paper's leader column points out, the Sunday Mail has been tracking the story for a long time.
The leader begins: “When the Sunday Mail first exposed the organised gangs corrupting our nation in our Crime Inc series, one politician snorted, 'This is not 1920s Chicago'.”
