A FREEDOM of Information request, asking for details of all emails and civil service minutes of exchanges between the Scottish Government and Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation has reportedly drawn a blank.
Writes Robbie Dinwoodie, in today’s Herald newspaper, “no evidence exists to prove [First Minister] Alex Salmond’s assertion that his offer to lobby on behalf of [News Corporation’s bid to buy a controlling stake in satellite broadcaster] BSkyB was strictly related to Scottish jobs”.
Elsewhere, the paper reports – as do others – the News Corp board approving “a split the company into two publicly traded entities”: film and television in one, newspapers and books in the other.
The Scotsman, meanwhile, today reports that the former Labour MP for East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow, Adam Ingram, has “accepted undisclosed damages and an apology” from News international title, the Sunday Times, following a story it ran about him last year.
