The Media in Figures: UK audience attitudes to the broadcast media

ACCORDING to figures released by broadcasting regulators, Ofcom, over half (55 per cent) of adults who took part in a piece of research last year said that the standard of TV programmes has ‘stayed the same’ over the previous 12 months (a rise from 47 per cent in 2005).

The proportion of adults saying standards have ‘got worse’ fell from 40 per cent in 2005, to under a third (31 per cent) in 2011. And the proportion saying standards have improved remained relatively steady, at just over one in ten (12 per cent in 2011 compared to ten per cent in 2005).
