Govan stepping down as Scottish Government chief marketing officer

THE chief marketing officer at the Scottish Government is stepping down.

Says a media statement issued by the Scottish Government, Gillian Govan “will leave Scottish Government by the end of this year and will continue her career as a UK leader in social marketing consultancy”.

The statement adds: “Gillian joined Scottish Government in 2009 and has led the team to deliver over 30 award winning campaigns across all government priorities. The team was recognised in 2010 and 2011 as Team of the Year at the Marketing Societies Star Awards.”

She is quoted, as saying: “I’ve built up a successful and resilient team who have delivered strategies and innovative approaches that have, and will continue to, make a real difference to the people of Scotland.

“Working with policy and Ministers we’ve developed world-class public engagement which delivers tangible results and the team is now recognised as a centre of excellence.

“I’m proud of what I have achieved in my time at Scottish Government. I have no doubt that the team will continue their professional and rigorous approach to social marketing and go from strength to strength.”
