Former sports editor celebrates career following local club

SPORTS editors, take note. When the Greenock Telegraph newspaper was issued with a banning order by the then owner of the local, Scottish Football League club, sports editor, Roger Graham, started covering other football matches, instead. The ban quickly ended.

The tale appears in a feature about Graham and his book, ‘Following the Ton – A Career Covering Greenock Morton’ – in today’s Herald.

Graham – who, Herald writer, Stewart Fisher, says was made redundant two years ago – is quoted as saying: “I could paper my house with lawyers letters from [then owner] Hugh Scott, threatening to sue me and all this sort of stuff.”
