THE former editor of The Scotsman, Magnus Linklater, has been awarded a CBE in the New Year Honours list.
Also a former Scotland editor of The Times, the CBE was awarded for services to the arts and the media in Scotland.
He is quoted in The Scotsman as saying: “It was a total surprise and I hadn’t expected it at all.”
Meanwhile, former Scottish Daily Express feature writer, Jack Webster, received a BEM for services to journalism.
