My Big Break: Jack Webster, BEM (recently awarded, for services to journalism)

THE New Year Honours list saw Scots journalist, Jack Webster, awarded a British Empire Medal for services to journalism.

The 81 year-old has just completed his 18th both book, which is currently with the publishers and is his third autobiography, this one provisionally titled: From Maud to Manhatten: The Final Grain of Truth (the others having been A Grain of Truth and Another Grain of Truth).

He is perhaps best known as a former feature writer on the Scottish Daily Express, which he joined from The Press and Journal. His career began with the Turriff Advertiser and, latterly, he was a columnist on The Herald.

He has three sons all working in journalism: Geoff (BBC Scotland), Keith (Daily Mirror) and Martin (BBC, Southampton).
