Wake up and smell the coffee – in your P&J

THE morning newspaper and the heady aroma of coffee – a common combination, except that today, The Press and Journal has rolled the two into one.

In what is being hailed as a first for a Scottish newspapers, when readers open their copy of the Aberdeen newspaper, they will be met with a bespoke scented advertisement.

Says the paper’s publishers, DC Thomson: “The magenta ink in the full-page advertisement is infused with the smell of coffee. DC Thomson’s advertising and creative teams came up with the innovative idea after being commissioned by Aberdeen-based IT company, BusinessPort.”
