The Herald’s Edinburgh office to close

THE Edinburgh office of The Herald is to close.

Its dozen or so staff are expected to have left the Hanover Street premises by next month.

A spokesperson for the publishers, the Herald & Times Group said the “action was taken following a review of property needs” and but that it will “maintain its dozen editorial staff in the capital”, with many operating from home.

The office is ‘home’ to the Sunday Herald writers also. Well-known writers, Paul Hutcheon, Tom Gordon, Barry Didcock and Rebecca McQuillan, among others, work from the office.

The spokesperson added: “Our commitment to providing quality news and analysis for print and digital customers from Edinburgh remains unchanged.”
