DC Thomson appoints contractors for next phase of HQ refurbishment

THE headquarters of Dundee-based newspapers, comics and magazines publisher, DC Thomson, is moving into its next phase of refurbishment, included a re-worked roof space.

Muirfield Contracts Ltd has been appointed to carry out the work on Courier Buildings in Meadowside. The work is expected to take around 15 months to complete.

DC Thomson staff were relocated to the company’s Kingsway building – also in Dundee – during the run-up to Meadowside being completely closed in June last year.

Since then, a complete strip-out of the interior has been carried out, with Muirfield Contracts taken on to proceed with the refurbishment.

Says a DC Thomson media release: “[We] will ensure that the building is more energy efficient, by improving the insulation, introducing a rainwater harvesting system and installing photovoltaic panels on the roof.”

Muirfield Contracts are a local company.
