Scots Magazine relaunching with new look and larger size

ONE of the world’s oldest magazines, The Scots Magazine, is relaunching next week, including in a larger size.

The four-weekly title will be – from next Thursday – 50 per cent larger than currently and Scots actor, Brian Cox, is to grace the cover.

Says the magazine’s publisher, the size change is “one of the biggest changes in [the magazine’s] 274-year history” and that “it has also benefited from a sympathetic redesign, bringing class and simplicity to its stunning photographs and quality editorial”.

In a DC Thomson media release, editor-in-chief, Sally Hampton, is quoted, as saying: “The Scots Magazine has been redesigned for today’s audience. The striking new look comes after an extensive programme of research into the interests and lifestyles of contemporary Scots.

“Close collaboration between our editorial and design teams has produced a magazine that’s both clean and classic, and allows us to showcase the best that Scotland has to offer.”

In its present form, The Scots Magazine dates from April 24 1924, when it was re-established by the St Andrew Society (Glasgow) as the official organ of the Scottish Societies throughout the world. DC Thomson took it over in 1927. With a monthly average readership of over 100,000 The Scots Magazine is the world’s best-selling Scottish-interest publication.
