AN UK-wide survey of people’s reading habits, concerning newspapers and magazines, has revealed Scots titles, Scotland on Sunday and The Press and Journal have both enjoyed hikes in their readership numbers.
Says the National Readership Survey, Scotland on Sunday enjoyed a ten per cent increase, from an average 140,000 per issue between April 2011 and March 2012 and an average 154,000 12 months’ later.
The figures for the P&J, meanwhile, was 185,000 to 195,000 – up five per cent. For the Aberdeen-based paper, this is a continuation of a recent trend for it.

For other Scots titles, however, the figures were down:
Daily Record, down 11 per cent, from 880,000 to 783,000
The Courier, down 15 per cent, from 143,000 to 121,000
The Herald, down 21 per cent, from 162,000 to 127,000
Evening Times, down seven per cent, from 147,000 to 136,000
The Scotsman, down 13 per cent, from 139,000 to 120,000
Sunday Mail, down 15 per cent, from 1,039,000 to 885,000
The Sunday Post, down 19 per cent, from 822,000 to 664,000
Sunday Herald, down 18 per cent, from 125,000 to 103,000
