Your Noon Briefing: Susan Windram, site news, etc

A NEW editor has been appointed at one of Scotland’s best-known regional newspapers, The Oban Times.

Susan Windram joins from the magazine, Scottish Field, where she was a writer and sub-editor.

Scottish Field and The Oban Times are both published by Wyvex Media and Windram succeeds Willie Mack, who left in October.

Prior to joining Scottish Field, she was group editor of 11 titles in the Scottish Borders owned by Tweeddale Press, part of Johnston Press.

Under her stewardship, The Southern Reporter was named Scottish Weekly Newspaper of the year on three occasions. Prior to her time at Tweeddale Press, she spent 14 years at The Scotsman.

AND so, here we are. For years, allmediascotland.com sought to source news, it always being something of unequal fight between the desire to provide as comprehensive a service as possible and the resources available.

And then, two years ago, the site instead began to curate media news already out there.

Well, today marks the end of Your Noon Briefing, with media organisations now invited to share their news via our media release posting service.

But with over 16,000 followers of twitter.com/allmedianews, very high ranking by Google and over 3,000 recipients of a weekday eNewsletter, that adds up to a lot of profile for a little outlay.

And allmediascotland will continue to be home to media job adverts and features about the Scottish media (a Made Here, for instance, has been scheduled for tomorrow) and its community of practitioners.

Look out too for details of upcoming developments to our media directory.

You’ll know who you are, those of you who have supported us with tip-offs, kind words, job adverts, etc. It has been a privilege knowing you, we owe you a debt of gratitude.
