DADA help handle Boyle media deluge

THE Susan Boyle story has not only been good for the Daily Record newspaper – with its website receiving huge amounts of traffic – it has also been good for a Glasgow PR and events company, which was in action last week to help handle the deluge of media enquiries that have been generated by her.

Following her appearance on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, the weekend before last, West Lothian-based Boyle’s wonderful singing voice has attracted worldwide fascination.

And makers of the show, TalkbackTHAMES, turned to DADA to manage the constant stream of journalists and TV crews pitching up at the door of Susan’s home.

During Thursday and Friday, it’s estimated Boyle gave 33 interviews, including with Larry King Live, CNN, Entertainment Tonight and CBS News in the USA alone.

Says DADA account director, Elaine McLaren – who appeared in the background in a few of the live links: “It was unbelievable. At one point, there was a gap of just four minutes between one US TV crew finishing and another one setting up.

“Susan’s phone was ‘ringing off the hook’, people were constantly knocking on the door and photographers were camped outside.”
