Medical journalism prize for McCartney

A GLASGOW-based journalist has been named joint winner in an international medical journalism competition.

Margaret McCartney has finished joint first in the European School of Oncology’s Best Cancer Reporter Awards – established three years ago, by the school, to encourage better quality media coverage of cancer and to recognise the many examples of outstanding cancer journalism.

She and her co-winner, Linda Geddes, each receive a prize of €7,500.

McCartney writes a weekly column for the Financial Times Weekend.
