Local newspaper editor, Jim Love, dies, aged 63

THE editor of one of the best-known local newspapers has died.

Jim Love, editor of the Inverness Courier, was aged 63 and died as the result of an inoperable brain tumour discovered early this year.

Said the newspaper: “Despite a slow but steady deterioration in his physical condition, [Jim’s] intellect was as sharp as ever and he continued to take a keen interest in his paper until the end.”

Jim joined The Inverness Courier eighteen years ago, having previously been an Inverness-based reporter with the Press and Journal. He became editor five years ago.

The paper adds: “For a son of Inverness, it was one of his proudest days and he swiftly stamped his own style.

“He was gentle man in every sense of the word.”

A full obituary appears in tomorrow’s Courier.
