Pastures new for magazine trade body chief

THE Periodical Publishers Association, whose UK-wide membership of magazine publishers includes a 26-strong contingent from Scotland, is to lose its chief operating officer.

Sarah Tunstall is to to join a web agency, Fresh Egg, as commercial director in January.

Fresh Egg was launched nine years ago and earlier this year caught the attention of entrepreneur, James Caan, who appears on the BBC business programme, Dragon’s Den, who became chair of the company in March.

Said Tunstall, of her decision: “I am delighted to be joining Fresh Egg at such an exciting stage in its development and look forward to retaining a close link with PPA in my new role.

“PPA is one of the UK’s largest and most effective trade associations, and is one of the leading magazine trade bodies worldwide. The organisation is currently undertaking a full review of its activities so that it continues to provide relevant support to its members, reflecting the challenges that the publishing industry faces in 2010 and beyond. I am leaving behind an exceptionally strong team who are perfectly placed to deliver on these goals.”

PPA has almost 300 publishing companies in its membership, which collectively publish more than 2,500 consumer, customer and business magazines, as well as directories and websites.
