Evening Express editor appointed to editors’ code committee

THE editor of the Aberdeen Evening Express newspaper is one of three appointments to the Editors’ Code of Practice Committee, which writes the Code of Practice operated by the Press Complaints Commission.

Damian Bates is joined by Colin Grant, editor-in-chief of Iliffe News and Media East, and Mike Sassi, editor-in-chief of Stafforshire Sentinel News and Media.

Bates was made editor of the Evening Express in April four years ago, having previously been deputy editor. Prior to that, he was assistant editor and news editor at the Bradford Telegraph & Argus and deputy news editor at The News, Portsmouth.

The trio are succeeding three colleagues, including recently retired Sunday Post editor, David Pollington.
