THE Edinburgh Evening News is today launching a fundraising campaign on behalf of a local hospice.
Although no figure has been put on how much the paper wishes to raise – via its ‘Buy a Brick’ campaign on behalf of St Columba’s Hospice – it hopes it will be a six-figure sum, going towards what will be a £26 million refit.
The campaign is to run for several months, highlighting the good work the hospice does.
Says editor, Tom Little: “This hospital assists families through some of the most difficult times of their lives. It has been doing this for more than 30 years, helping people of all races and regardless of their religious beliefs.
“The staff and volunteers do this with a degree of professionalism and compassion that is frankly humbling.
“The Evening News is proud to be in a position to try to help this remarkable institution get ready to help future generations of local people in a building that is fully-equipped and designed for the 21st century.”
