Dunfermline Press chief, Romanes, dies

THE chief executive of the Dunfermline Press Group has died, following a long illness.

It is understood Deirdre Romanes was aged 60.

The Dunfermline Press Group includes the Dunfermline Press and the Alloa & Hillfoots Advertiser among its titles. It also owns the Clyde & Forth Press, which has the Greenock Telegraph and the Clydebank Post among its titles.

The Dunfermline Press was founded by the Romanes family in 1859.

A statement issued by the company simply said: “Deirdre Romanes, chief executive of The Dunfermline Press Ltd, died this morning after a long and courageous battle with illness.”
