The circulation gap between the two biggest-selling daily newspapers has widened for a third, consecutive month.
Say the September ABCs, the gap – as measured by Average Net Circulation – between sales in Scotland of the Sun and the Daily Record was 45,336. In August, it was 43,528; in July, it was 42,622; and in June, it was 41,360.
In September, The Scottish Sun’s average daily sale in Scotland was 339,586 (compared to 344,006 in August), as opposed to the Record’s 294,250 (compared to 300,483 in August).
Meanwhile, the average sale in Scotland for the country’s biggest-selling newspaper, the Sunday Mail, was 356,313. In August it was 363,711; in July, it was 354,519; and in June, it was 354,758.
Average Net Circulation figures include free give-aways. The figures were released at midday.
In the sales pecking order, the Sunday Herald swapped with The Scotsman, the Scottish Sunday Mirror swapped with the Daily Telegraph and The Observer swapped with the Sunday Telegraph.
