Robertson in the running for Student Media Award

THE news editor of Strathclyde University’s student newspaper, and an intern last year at allmediascotland, is in the running for a media award, from the Scottish division of the National Union of Students.

Journalism student, Alan Robertson – who writes for the Strathclyde Telegraph – has been shortlisted in the Journalist of the Year category of the inaugural NUS Scotland Awards.

Robertson – who does casual sports reporting shifts at the Daily Record and Sunday Mail newspapers and is in his third year at Strathclyde – is up against Andrew Jenkin, of Brig Newspaper, Stirling University Students’ Association, and Dan Heap, of The Student, Edinburgh University Students’ Association.

The Awards also includes a category for Student Media and the shortlist for that comprises The Edit, Glasgow Caledonian University Students’ Association; The Journal, Edinburgh University Students’ Association; and AirTV, Stirling University Students’ Association.

Other awards to be handed out the weekend after next include Campaign of the Year, Club or Society of the Year and Course Rep of the Year.
