East Ayrshire-based sports journalist, Matt Vallance, has widely freelanced since his eight-year stint as sport editor of the Paisley Daily Express.
He is also held in high renown as a noted obituarist – predominantly on football personalities – for both The Herald and The Scotsman.
And he proves just how industrious he is on this specialist writing front by having obituaries yesterday in each of those newspapers on different footballers.
Vallance writes in The Scotsman on Jimmy Briggs, aged 74, who played a major role in Dundee United’s 1960s success story, and, in The Herald, on Ronnie Coyle, aged 46, whose career highlights came during an eight-year spell at Raith Rovers.
