The Sunday Herald has triumphed at an awards ceremony celebrating the best of newspaper production.
The paper took the title for Newspaper Design of the Year at the Newspaper Awards, which took place last night. In winning, it beat off the challenge of the Sunday Times (highly commended), the i newspaper (commended) and the Cambridge News, The Independent, the Irish Examiner and The Guardian (all nominated).
In January, the paper was relaunched as the new Sunday Herald, as a single-section news magazine, later introducing its sports coverage as a supplement.
A Highly Commended in the Newspaper Printer of the Year category also went to the newspaper print plant at Eurocentral, in Lanarkshire, which includes the Edinburgh Evening News among its customers.
In the Digital News Service of the Year category, Scottish news and comment website, Caledonian Mercury, received a nomination.
