Neville New Editor of The Courier

The deputy editor of the Press and Journal has been appointed the new editor of the Dundee-based daily, The Courier.

Richard Neville is also a former deputy editor and news editor at The Scotsman.

He succeeds Bill Hutcheon, who took early retirement eariier this year.

After his time at The Scotsman, he joined Business a.m. – from 2000-2002 – where he was, latterly, editor.

He is a former assistant editor at The Press in York and is a former reporter at The Daily Record.

He started his career as a reporter for the Evening News in Edinburgh after graduating from Napier University in Edinburgh. He has also attended the Bonnier Media University in Stockholm.

In a memo to staff, Donald Martin, editor-in-chief of The Courier and sister titles, The Sunday Post and Evening Telegraph says: “Richard will be responsible for leading The Courier team, working with Steve Bargeton as deputy editor, as we continue to modernise our newspapers and deliver an even better product for our core and target markets.”

Neville takes up his new role on the 18th of next month.
