The political correspondent at the Scottish Daily Mail has been appointed political editor at sister title, the Scottish Mail on Sunday.
Andrew Picken succeeds Michael Tait who, in January, is joining the Scottish Conservatives to become their new director of media.
Picken moved to the Scottish Daily Mail in June two years ago from the Edinburgh Evening News, where he was Council Reporter. He joined the Edinburgh Evening News from the Dunfermline Press, where he was a reporter, in September 2005.
Tait takes over from Ramsay Jones who, it is understood, is to move to an expanded role as director of political affairs.
